High Turnover During Wedding Season Prompts TAK to Step Up Inspections of Singers, Venues and Businesses

The high financial turnover generated during wedding season has prompted the Tax Administration of Kosovo to increase its activity in the field.

During the summer season, TAK will verify whether businesses and individuals profiting from weddings, celebrations and other family events are declaring their income and meeting their tax obligations.

To this end, the institution has stepped up inspections and operational measures targeting dozens of activities involved in this industry, which records high financial turnover during this period.

Inspections will cover wedding venues and hotels, singers, musical groups and DJs, as well as photographers and videographers. Businesses providing ceremonial attire, including suits and wedding dresses, will also be subject to checks.

Makeup artists, hairstylists and hairdressers, venue decoration companies, event organizers, and lighting and special-effects providers will also be monitored. Inspections will also extend to rent-a-car companies that provide vehicles for weddings.

The list of activities to be inspected also includes florists who prepare floral arrangements and decorations, as well as bakeries that produce cakes and other products for weddings.

TAK has asked citizens to assist the institution by reporting cases in which income is suspected of going undeclared, fiscal receipts are not issued, or tax obligations are evaded. Cases can be reported through the DENONCO online platform or to the Call Center at 038 222 165.

According to the institution, current legislation requires every individual or business providing paid services to declare their income and pay the relevant taxes.

The Tax Administration is calling for income to be declared and taxes to be paid regularly so that entities do not face legal penalties.

TAK issued a similar appeal last year to singers, artists and other entities operating in the entertainment industry, urging them to comply with their tax obligations.

“Increased artistic engagements during this period do not exempt anyone from their legal responsibilities. Paying taxes is a legal obligation,” the institution’s announcement stated.

TAK data show that 2.3 million euros in taxes were collected from singers in the January–August 2024 period alone. According to the institution, this figure demonstrates a significant increase in tax declarations and payments by artists and performers in the music industry.
