Government Dismisses Deputy Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Approves Road Safety Strategy

In the latest meeting, the Council of Ministers took a series of important decisions, where the dismissal of Ms. Vilma Premti from the post of deputy minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs stands out.

Another key decision was the approval of the National Road Safety Strategy for the period 2026-2030, together with the corresponding action plan for 2027-2029.

The Council of Ministers also approved a cooperation agreement with the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which regulates international road transport between the two countries.

Green light was also given to the draft law proposal aiming to ratify the agreement with North Macedonia. This agreement provides for the establishment of joint border crossing points and coordinated controls between the two states.

Another decision sets the rules, procedures and compensation amount for State Police employees who are injured or suffer health damage during duty. Also, the decision addresses how family members of police officers who lose their lives in the line of duty will be supported.

The government also took steps for drafting legislation in the criminal field, in function of the country’s European integration process.

Amendments and additions were approved to some previous decisions. Specifically, acts regulating the assessment and benefit of disability capacity were affected, as well as the payment for persons with disabilities and their personal assistants.

Also, additions were made to the decision on special state protection for unemployed women with three or more children under 18, as well as to the decision dealing with benefits arising from the status of the blind.
