Reshuffle in North Macedonia’s Government Expands to Deputy Ministers and Heads of Institutions

Changes in North Macedonia’s Government are not expected to include only ministers, but also deputy ministers, directors and deputy directors of state institutions, government sources told INA.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has indicated that the reshuffle process will not remain limited to the government cabinet, but will also extend to the leadership levels of state institutions.

According to the information, in some ministries new deputy ministers will be appointed because of the shifting of ministries among coalition partners. In other departments, meanwhile, replacements are expected for deputy ministers currently in office following an assessment of their performance.

At the same time, a considerable number of directors and deputy directors in public institutions are also under review and are being evaluated on the basis of their work results. The aim of these moves is to increase efficiency and install higher-performing staff.

VLEN, too, is not denying possible changes at the level of deputy ministers and directorates, leaving open the possibility of a refresh of staff in the administration.

Meanwhile, after VMRO-DPMNE, VLEN has also made public the new names for the government lineup. The coalition has proposed Jeton Shasivari as minister of justice, Agon Ferati as minister for relations between communities, and Sedat Sulejmani as minister of culture and tourism.

Bekim Sali, Besar Durmishi and Muhamet Hoxha will continue in the posts they currently hold.

At the same time, changes are also expected in several key sectors proposed by VMRO-DPMNE, while after the reshuffle a wave of appointments and dismissals is expected to follow in state institutions at various levels./INA/
