Get out”/ Egla Ceno recounts her argument with Rama in Berat: He became irritated and ended the hearing

Prime Minister Edi Rama’s meeting in Berat, where the territorial division was being discussed, was marked by heated clashes between him and a group of representatives from Poliçan. Actress Egla Ceno was also among them.

In comments to Top Channel journalist Bledar Korreshi, Ceno gave her account of what happened in the hall. She said that her only request to the prime minister had been for the representatives of Poliçan to be heard.

“We had come as a group of representatives from Poliçan to take part in the hearing on territorial reform. This town has expressed its position several times. Minister Demo gave citizens the opportunity to speak, but only two of them took the floor.

Then the prime minister intervened and said: ‘OK, OK, we are not at a meeting to hear how well people live in Poliçan.’ After that, he began a speech consisting of questions and answers provided by him. Several young men in the hall raised their hands to respond, but no one was given the opportunity to speak,” the actress recounted.

According to her, at the end of the meeting she asked Rama to allow the representatives to express themselves. “As the meeting was coming to an end, I said to him: ‘Can we speak? Will you hear us?’ He told me: ‘Get out.’ I said to him: ‘Sure, I’ll go outside,’ but we had come because we had been told that the prime minister would listen to our concerns.

I told him: ‘Please, get out.’ He replied: ‘No, do not address me like that,’” Ceno declared.

She added that Rama stood up, visibly irritated, and ordered the meeting to be halted until she left the hall. “He got up very irritated and said: ‘The meeting is suspended until the lady leaves.’ At that moment, the entire community stood with me, and we all went outside.

There was no provocation from our side. I simply asked him to listen to us and allow us to speak,” Egla Ceno said.
