Following the Murder of an 80-Year-Old Woman in Prizren, Haxhiu Calls for an End to Violence and the Killing of Women

Following the murder of an 80-year-old woman in Prizren, acting president Albulena Haxhiu has called for the case to be investigated swiftly and thoroughly.

According to Haxhiu, the incident should not be viewed as an isolated case, as another woman was also killed just two days earlier.

She said she was shocked by the news of the murder of the 80-year-old woman in Prizren, stressing that the killings of two women within a matter of days cannot be considered isolated cases.

Haxhiu called on the justice institutions to continue their investigations until the cases are fully resolved and for those responsible to receive the harshest punishment provided for by law.

She emphasized that, alongside fully investigating each case, it is equally essential to identify and prevent violence before it leads to murder.

Haxhiu also called on the relevant institutions to take concrete and immediate steps to protect women and prevent violence against them.

Concluding her statement, she extended her condolences to the family of the deceased woman.
