Flames approach homes in Kodra e Krastës, Elbasan, as firefighters intervene

A fire broke out around midday this Sunday behind Kodra e Krastës, on the outskirts of Elbasan, posing a risk to nearby residential areas.

The advancing flames directly endangered two homes and alarmed residents, making the immediate intervention of the fire service necessary.

Three fire engines and 12 firefighters were deployed in the operation. The teams worked to contain the fire, extinguish the flames and establish a safety perimeter to prevent the fire from reaching the homes.

After around two hours of battling the fire, the timely intervention brought the situation fully under control. The flames were extinguished, preventing the homes from burning and stopping the fire from spreading to the surrounding areas.

The risk of fires in Elbasan County, as in other parts of the country, remains high during this period due to high temperatures and conditions that favor the rapid spread of flames.

Authorities warn that near homes, green spaces and areas with dry vegetation, even a small fire can turn into a dangerous situation within minutes.

The Elbasan Fire Service is once again calling on citizens to exercise maximum care and responsibility by not lighting fires in open areas and avoiding any action that could cause flames.

Especially on days with high temperatures, flammable waste, carelessly discarded cigarettes and the use of fire near dry vegetation can have serious consequences for homes, property and the environment. The numerous fires this summer have caused exceptionally extensive damage in rural and urban areas.
