Five arrested in domestic violence cases across the country within 24 hours

North Macedonia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that five people suspected of domestic violence were detained over the past 24 hours. According to the statement, the cases occurred in different cities across the country.

The Ministry said that on 24.06.2026, at 08:20 in Strumica, police officers from the Strumica Internal Affairs Department arrested P.P. (48) from Strumica following an earlier report by his 43-year-old former partner. She stated that on 23.06.2026, at around 23:00, in the yard of her family home, after a brief altercation, he physically assaulted her. According to the report, he had been psychologically and physically abusing her for a longer period of time and had also threatened her.

On 23.06.2026, at 16:30, police officers from the police unit in the village of Zajas, in the Kičevo region, deprived F.R. (45) of his liberty after it was reported that he had attacked his sister in the family home with a wooden object.

In Veles, on 24.06.2026 at 03:40, police from the Veles Internal Affairs Department arrested K.Sh. (18), after it was reported that he was keeping his 18-year-old partner from a village in the Vinica region in his home, threatening her and not allowing her to leave. The public prosecutor and the Center for Social Work in Veles were informed about this case.

Also, on 23.06.2026 at 18:30, on “108” Street in Tetovo, police officers from the Tetovo Internal Affairs Department detained P.A. (36), following a report by his 60-year-old father. According to the statement, in the yard of the family home he behaved aggressively, damaged part of the household furniture, and threatened him and his wife.

In another case, on 23.06.2026 at 19:40, police officers from the Kriva Palanka Police Department arrested M.S. (19), after it was reported that over the past period, on several occasions, he had stalked, harassed, and threatened his 18-year-old ex-girlfriend. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs said, he was taken to a police station.

In conclusion, the Ministry stressed that measures are being taken to fully clarify the cases and that, after they are documented, the appropriate charges will be filed against the persons involved.
