19-Year-Old Woman Killed in Crash Near Strumica, Minor Motorcyclist Detained

A tragic collision between a motorcycle and a car occurred last night on the main Strumica–Novo Selo road, near the village of Trnovo. A 19-year-old woman died at the scene, while the motorcycle rider, A.D. from the village of Ilovica, was detained by police.

The unregistered motorcycle and a Seat Leon with Strumica license plates were involved in the serious accident. According to an official report by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, K.J., who was a passenger on the motorcycle, succumbed to her injuries and died at the scene, as confirmed by the emergency doctor who arrived there.

The motorcycle rider, A.D., was taken to Strumica Medical Center, where he was diagnosed with bodily injuries. Meanwhile, investigative actions carried out by the public prosecutor together with a team from the Strumica State Police found that the driver of the Seat was intoxicated. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.75 per mille, and he was immediately arrested.

Investigators also discovered that motorcyclist A.D. was operating the vehicle without the necessary registration documents and had not yet obtained a driving license. As part of the inspection procedures, traffic on this section of road was blocked for several hours, from midnight until around 2:30 a.m. By order of the prosecutor, the young victim’s body was sent for a forensic examination.
