Fires in Ulëz Remain Dangerous, Evacuation of Madhesh Residents Expected

The flames engulfing the villages of Ulëz continue to pose a critical situation, as the fire has spread across a 5-kilometre radius and is getting increasingly closer to homes.

Residents living in the area are expected to be evacuated at any moment, as the fire is advancing toward their houses. The spread of the flames is being fueled by strong winds and dry vegetation.

Dozens of personnel from the firefighting service, forestry service, civil protection authorities, the Armed Forces and volunteers are on the ground, but despite their efforts, containing the fire remains impossible. Thick smoke has covered the area, limiting visibility and increasing the risk of asphyxiation for the teams operating there.

Efforts to extinguish the flames are also continuing from the air, with a helicopter belonging to the Ministry of Defense, but so far it has failed to halt the spread of the fire.
