Fire contained in Mallunxë, flames spread to Ulëz and threaten homes and more than 200 beehives

After three days of non-stop efforts, the large wildfire in the oak forests of the village of Mallunxë, in the Municipality of Mat, has been brought under control and contained by civil protection structures, the Armed Forces and firefighting services.

The situation remains critical in the Ulëz administrative unit, as the flames are moving rapidly toward populated areas. In Lundër, the fire has approached homes, alarming residents who, despite the danger, refuse to leave because they do not want to abandon the fruits of a lifetime’s work.

The risk is also high in Madhesh, where the flames are threatening a house and a farm with more than 200 beehives. They could be engulfed by the fire at any moment.

The forestry service, firefighters, the Army and local volunteers continue to battle the blaze on the ground.

Meanwhile, the rapid spread of the flames toward the Shkopet Valley, where dozens of homes are directly at risk, has increased calls from local authorities and residents for urgent intervention from the air by helicopter, with the aim of preventing the fire from spreading further.
