Wildfires in Albania: Critical Situation in Ulëz, Mat, Several Homes at Risk in Lundre Village

For more than 24 hours, the wildfire situation in the Trodhene area of the Ulëz Administrative Unit in Mat Municipality has remained critical.

Three fires are active in the area. Despite the deployment of crews on the ground and aerial intervention yesterday, it has not been possible to contain the flames.

Strong winds, high temperatures and difficult mountainous terrain have fueled the rapid spread of the fire, pushing the situation out of control.

According to information from the scene, several homes in the village of Lundre are at risk as the flames spread toward residential properties from both the Trodhene area and Lundre.

The difficult terrain makes access by fire engines nearly impossible, while Mat Municipality employees, firefighters and forestry service workers continue their efforts to contain and extinguish the flames.

Local authorities have again requested aerial support because effective intervention from the ground is not possible.

Meanwhile, police are working to identify and apprehend the person or persons responsible, as the fires are suspected to have been deliberately set.
