Fires flare up again in Elbasan, with an active blaze in Gurëshpatë and a fire under observation on Mount Qukës

Firefighting services continue to keep the wildfire situation under control in Elbasan County, where new fire outbreaks were identified during the day in various areas of Librazhd and Prrenjas.

An active fire has been reported in Gurëshpatë, Librazhd, where one firefighting vehicle and six Librazhd Fire and Rescue Service personnel have been deployed. The teams on the ground are working to extinguish the flames and limit their spread.

The latest information indicates that the fire in Gurëshpatë does not threaten populated areas. Nevertheless, firefighters continue their intervention and monitoring efforts without interruption.

In the territory of the Prrenjas municipality, the fire on Mount Qukës, which has been active for five weeks, is currently under observation. Fire and Rescue Service teams are monitoring the situation to prevent the flames from reigniting or spreading to other areas.

Outbreaks were also detected during the day on Mount Polis and in the Hotolisht area, reviving the wildfire problem in several mountainous parts of the county.

Librazhd firefighters are working in rugged and difficult-to-access terrain, complicating the intervention and extinguishing efforts, reports journalist Fatmir Popja.

Personnel remain on alert for any new developments, while protecting residents, property and forested areas remains a priority.

The authorities are urging citizens to exercise heightened caution and avoid any action that could cause fires, particularly in areas with vegetation and forests.
