Fire situation in the country: 6 of 8 hotspots remain active and 2 are under control

The Ministry of Defense published the latest data on the wildfire situation in Albania on Sunday evening. A total of 8 hotspots were identified during the day in the counties of Tirana, Fier, Durrës and Lezhë.

Of the total number of hotspots, 6 remain active, while 2 are under control or being monitored. A total of 227 personnel have been involved in field operations, while the deployment of 50 military personnel was requested to tackle the fire in the Boje neighborhood of Krujë. Firefighting vehicles, 3 helicopters, 1 Air Tractor aircraft and an Armed Forces aircraft in Cikallesh have also been made available to extinguish the flames.

Several hotspots have reignited in Dajt, near the Selita water factory, where teams are continuing their intervention and monitoring efforts. In Cikallesh, Kavajë, the intensity of the fire has decreased and the hotspot is moving toward complete extinction. Meanwhile, in Priskë e Madhe, efforts are under way to control several small hotspots, with no danger to residential areas.

In Mallakastër, in the Panahor–Ndrenie–Vlosht area, the operation to isolate the hotspots is continuing, while the fire is under control. In Koilaç–Greshicë, the flames have also been isolated and the situation is under control. Residents and inhabited areas are not at risk.

The situation in Abaze, Krujë, has stabilized, while only small hotspots producing embers and smoke remain in the area. The structures involved are continuing their intervention and monitoring. In the Boje neighborhood of Krujë, difficult terrain and a lack of access roads made it necessary to urgently request the deployment of 50 military personnel. Homes in this area are also not at risk.

In Vilëz, Kurbin, the fire remains active across a forested area. A total of 50 personnel from local structures, the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, the Police and volunteer groups have been involved in the operation. An aerial intervention carried out with 2 helicopters halted the advance of the flames, preventing the church, cemetery and surrounding homes from burning.
