Ministry of Defense reports on the fire situation: 6 active hotspots, Mount Dajti remains problematic

The Ministry of Defense has updated information on the fire situation across the country as of 8:00 p.m. this Tuesday, August 25.

During the day, 24 fire hotspots were identified nationwide. Of these, 6 remain active, while 5 others are being monitored.

A total of 126 operational personnel and 18 firefighting vehicles have been deployed to deal with the situation. In support of the operations, the Armed Forces have made available 20 personnel, 1 helicopter and 2 Air Tractor aircraft.

Mount Dajti remains the main focus of intervention, as the hotspots at elevations above the Qafë Mollë tunnels are still active. A total of 40 firefighters, 20 Armed Forces personnel and 7 personnel from the Protected Areas Administration are operating on the ground, while aerial firefighting efforts are being supported by 1 helicopter and 2 Air Tractor aircraft. According to the reported data, populated areas are not under threat.

In Dibër County, the fire remains active in Ballenjë, where 5 personnel from the Protected Areas Administration have been deployed. Meanwhile, in Qafë e Helmës, Bulqizë, the situation is being monitored by 4 Fire Protection Service personnel. No risk to homes has been reported in either of these two areas.

The hotspot on Mount Dardhë, Librazhd, has reignited across a forested area of approximately 7–8 hectares. Librazhd Fire Protection Service personnel continue to work on the ground, while homes are not at risk.

In the Gjegjan–Gojan–Prozhëm–Tërbun area of Pukë, the fire hotspots have been isolated. There are no longer any active hotspots there, and the situation is only being monitored.

The National Civil Protection Agency is continuously monitoring the situation across the country, in close cooperation with the prefectures, municipalities and structures of the Civil Protection system.

Operational forces and capabilities remain deployed in the field and on standby for intervention, with priority given to protecting citizens’ lives, homes and property.
