Fire reignites in the pine forest massif of Çërrilë in Mallakastër

A fire hotspot was reactivated this afternoon in the Çërrilë area of Mallakastër, causing the flames to spread rapidly across a wide pine forest massif.

The incident has alarmed the local community, while emergency teams were immediately deployed to the scene to bring the fire under control. Four firefighting vehicles, 30 personnel of the Armed Forces and 20 municipal employees have been engaged in the extinguishing operation.

The broken and difficult terrain is significantly hampering the work of the teams on the ground. As a result, following an appeal for air support, a helicopter has reached the area to assist from above in extinguishing the hotspot.

Fortunately, the fire front is at a considerable distance from homes and does not pose a risk to people’s lives.
