Wildfire situation nationwide/Defense Ministry: 40 fires identified in 24 hours, 9 remain active

The Ministry of Defense has released its latest update on the wildfire situation across the country. A total of 40 fires were identified within a 24-hour period.

Of these, 25 have been fully extinguished, 9 are being kept under surveillance, while another 6 remain active.

A total of 492 regional and local operational personnel, along with 36 fire engines, have been mobilized to manage the situation.

To support the response efforts, the Armed Forces have deployed 133 personnel, 1 helicopter, 2 fire engines, 13 vehicles, 1 drone and 1 ambulance.

In Tirana County, the fire on Mount Dajt remains active but poses no threat to residential areas. Local authorities, ADZM and the Armed Forces took part in the operation yesterday, while today the Armed Forces will send 30 personnel to Dajt to assist teams on the ground. Meanwhile, the fire in Mali me Gropa has been contained and is being monitored.

In Dibër County, the fires in Lundre–Madhesh, Cerrujë/Mount Allush and Selishtë remain active. Fire and forestry services, municipal authorities and civil emergency teams are responding in these areas. The fire at Qafa e Helmes continues to be monitored.

In Shkodër County, the fire in Porav, Fushë-Arrëz, is still active. The fires in Rragam–Bardhaj–Myselim and on Mount Tërbun are under surveillance, while no homes are reported to be at risk.

To reinforce operations on the ground, 20 Armed Forces personnel will be deployed today in Rragam, Shkodër.

In Fier County, the fire in Çërrilë, Mallakastër, remains active in an area covered with pine and oak forest and shrubs. A day earlier, the Armed Forces supported the operation with 1 helicopter, 32 personnel and 3 vehicles.

Today, 30 Armed Forces personnel are expected to be deployed in Çërrilë to support the teams working to extinguish the flames.

As for Lezhë, Elbasan and Korçë counties, most of the reported fires have been extinguished or are being kept under surveillance.

The Armed Forces plan to deploy at least 80 personnel today in Dajt, Çërrilë and Rragam, in cooperation with local authorities and other operational forces.

The National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC) is continuously monitoring the situation across the country and coordinating operations with prefectures, municipalities and all authorities that are part of the Civil Protection system.

Operational forces continue their work on the ground and remain on standby to respond wherever needed. Protecting citizens’ lives, homes and property remains the priority.
