Fire in Shkozet Brought Under Control After 3-Hour Operation; Two Firefighters Hospitalized for Smoke Inhalation

The flames that engulfed a warehouse in the Shkozet area were brought under control after more than three hours of intensive operations by the Durrës Municipality fire service.

Five fire engines, four water tankers, one aerial ladder truck, and 24 employees of the Fire Protection and Rescue Service (MZSH) were deployed to deal with the situation. Personnel and vehicles from the Port of Durrës, as well as the Shijak MZSH Station, also joined the operation.

Coordination among the various units, the rapid response, and the teams’ professional work made it possible to bring the fire under control. Firefighters are still working to fully extinguish the remaining hotspots and secure the perimeter.

During the operation, firefighters Nadir Kapaj and Maliq Gjyli suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to Durrës Regional Hospital. They are receiving the necessary medical care, and their condition is reported to be stable.

There is currently no risk of the flames spreading further. The responsible authorities will announce the cause of the fire once the investigations have been completed.

Durrës Municipality wished the two injured firefighters a speedy recovery and expressed its gratitude for the dedication and professionalism shown during the operation to protect citizens’ lives and property.
