The fire situation in the village of Riban, Mallakastër, spread significantly overnight, increasing the risk of the forest area in the village of Lofkënd catching fire.

The forces deployed have been concentrated in two directions, Riban and Lofkënd, in an effort to halt the advance of the flames.
Currently on the ground are five firefighting vehicles from Mallakastër, Fier, Roskovec, Berat and Kuçovë, 30 firefighting personnel, 35 municipal personnel and two water tankers, while a further 35–40 troops from the Armed Forces are expected to join them.
According to the authorities, the difficult terrain, dense vegetation, the fire’s wide spread and the intensity of the flames are making intervention from the ground extremely difficult.
Under these conditions, aerial intervention is considered essential to isolate and bring the fire under control.
