Fire in cattle feed stacks, a home also at risk

At midday today, a fire broke out in the village of Gjatë, in the Krutje administrative unit of the Municipality of Lushnje, also putting a home at risk.

According to the information, the family were resting during lunchtime when they were alerted by neighbors, who noticed that stacks of dry grass and feed for livestock were burning in the yard.

The flames spread quickly, aided by the high temperatures, but the immediate intervention of Lushnje firefighters prevented the house from catching fire. The stacks of livestock feed were completely burned, while the fire was contained in time to stop it from spreading to the house and nearby homes.

Officers at the scene suspect it was an accidental fire, as no electrical spark from cables has been reported.

Although high temperatures have for some time been creating a serious fire risk, cases have not been absent in rural areas, scorching large areas of barren land and also putting homes and businesses at risk.
