Fire Set to Burn Waste Gets Out of Control, Destroys Neighbor’s Property and Injures 57-Year-Old in Lushnje

In the village of Lumth in Lushnje, a fire started through negligence ended with one person being arrested, considerable damage, and a citizen injured.

Police said that Crime Investigation specialists at the Lushnje Police Commissariat caught citizen I. K., 57, a resident of this village, in flagrante delicto. He is suspected of having lit a fire on his property yesterday to burn waste, but the flames spread quickly and got out of control.

The flames also spread to the land of his neighbor, citizen A. A., causing major material damage. A Zetor tractor, a trailer, and the feed supplies he had gathered for livestock were completely burned.

While trying to save the property and put out the fire, the owner of the land himself, A. A., suffered burns to his body. He was rushed to Lushnje Hospital, where he is receiving the necessary medical assistance and is out of danger for his life.

The procedural file has been referred to the Prosecution Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Fier for the criminal offense of “Destruction of Property by Fire.”
