Fire Engulfs Forests Above Milot as Flames Approach Residential Areas

A fire has broken out in the forested area stretching above the town of Milot, in the territory of the Kurbin Municipality, alarming residents due to the speed at which the flames are spreading.

The difficult terrain and dense vegetation are aiding the fire’s advance. Smoke and flames have reached close to residential areas, increasing the risk to residents and nearby buildings.

Kurbin Municipality’s firefighting services have been deployed to deal with the situation on the ground, supported by teams from Lezhë and Kamëz, as well as other emergency structures.

Lezhë Prefect Taulant Malshi, who was present at the scene, announced that an aerial intervention to extinguish the fire had also begun. He said the operation was being significantly hampered by the terrain and the density of the vegetation, factors that are accelerating the spread of the flames, particularly near homes.

The teams involved are continuing operations to contain and extinguish the fire, with the aim of preventing it from spreading toward residential areas.
