Ferati on the closure of “Vita” in Istog: Farmers and workers must not suffer

Following the decision to close the “Vita” dairy in Istog, Istog mayor Ilir Ferati reacted by saying that this step has raised major concern because of its impact on farmers and workers.

He called for the dairy to reopen immediately in order to avoid harming farmers, workers and the local economy, while stressing that any other issues should be handled through the institutions and with full transparency.

Ferati said that the Municipality of Istog will remain steadfast in supporting farmers, workers and domestic production, which he considers among the main pillars of this municipality’s economic development.

A heavy blow to our municipality’s economy

Today, the Vita dairy was closed following an operation carried out by several inspectorates.

This development has caused major concern in the Municipality of Istog, as it directly affects local farmers, hundreds of workers and the entire milk production chain.

Vita ranks among the largest companies in Kosovo’s dairy industry and is the main partner for many farmers in our municipality. Any halt in its operations brings immediate economic consequences for families who make their living from milk production and collection.
