Extraordinary wave of travelers at Morinë, over 45,000 Kosovars arrive in Albania in 27 hours

The last weekend of July marked a new record flow at the Morinë Border Crossing Point, where thousands of citizens from Kosovo chose Albania as their destination. According to reports from the Local Directorate for Border and Migration, during a 27 and a half hour interval, specifically from 05:00 on July 25, 2026 to 08:30 on July 26, 2026, 45,518 Kosovar citizens entered Albanian territory.

During the same period, authorities also recorded the passage of 12,790 vehicles heading towards Albania. According to border structures, this significant increase in movement is directly linked to the threshold of August, which marks the peak of the holiday season. A considerable weight in this flow is also the return of Kosovar emigrants, who for years have had the tradition of vacationing both on Albanian beaches and in mountainous tourist areas.

Authorities expect Morinë to continue to be under high pressure in the coming weeks. In function of this, Border Police forces are mobilized to manage the large number of travelers and vehicles arriving during the summer. To avoid long queues, the agreement for the non-stop movement of cars with Kosovo and Albanian license plates remains in force, while procedural facilitations are applied for vehicles with foreign plates.
