On 01.08.2026, at 13:44, acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti visited Kalludra in Zubin Potok, where searches have been underway for five days to locate the remains of Albanians killed during the war in Kosovo.

During his visit to the site, Kurti announced that the excavations had uncovered additional human remains. He said that several more skulls were discovered while he was at the location, as the search work continues.
According to him, the bones are scattered along the edge of a stream, making the exhumation and identification of the victims more difficult. Kurti explained that the stream may have displaced the bodies during the spring, meaning they may no longer be where they were originally buried.
Because the human remains are scattered across the area, the searches are expected to continue for many more weeks, perhaps even many months. Kurti said the stream is likely to be powerful in the spring and may have moved the bodies, even if they had been placed in the same area.
The victims’ identities will be established only after DNA analyses have been completed. It is suspected that the remains may belong to the group of 23 Albanian intellectuals who were abducted and executed in April 1999.
The searches are being conducted to determine the fate of victims believed to have been concealed in a mass grave. The process is seen as particularly important for the families of missing persons, who have waited for years to learn what happened to their relatives.
Kurti’s visit took place as Kosovo’s institutions continue their efforts to identify missing persons and document crimes committed during the war. Speaking also about judicial proceedings related to these crimes, he accused Serbia of arresting people who had provided information about them.
Kurti expressed his gratitude to experts from the Institute of Forensic Medicine and EULEX for their work at the site. He stressed that Kosovo’s institutions would support the work until the fate of those missing from the war is clarified.
