Elbasan, 43-year-old suspected of setting fire to three vehicles; another man arrested with an unlicensed gun and cocaine

Elbasan Police arrested two people this Saturday following the completion of the coded operations “Last Fire” and “Surveillance.” The operations were carried out by officers of the Elbasan Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Special Operational Force of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate.

The operations were organized on the basis of information obtained through operational means, in implementation of the action plan for preventing and combating criminal activity, as well as following in-depth investigations.

As part of “Last Fire,” police proactively detained E. K., 43, a resident of Elbasan, who is suspected of being involved in two cases of the deliberate burning of vehicles.

According to the investigation, on 07.08.2026, at around 01:00, the 43-year-old is suspected of setting fire, using a flammable substance—specifically gasoline—to a vehicle used by L. D., 26, a resident of Elbasan.

Further investigative actions have raised suspicions that E. K. was also responsible for the burning of two other vehicles owned by citizen E. H., an incident that occurred on 28.06.2026.

Meanwhile, during operation “Surveillance,” D. R., 32, a resident of Elbasan, was caught in the act and arrested.

He was detained in the “17 Assault Brigade” neighborhood. During a physical search, police found him in possession of an unlicensed pistol, 35 rounds of ammunition, and a quantity of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

Following the completion of the procedures, D. R. was arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offenses of “Illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition” and “Production and sale of narcotics.”

The pistol, live ammunition and narcotic substance were seized as material evidence.

The procedural documentation was forwarded to the Prosecution Office attached to the Elbasan Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, which will continue with further actions.
