During an inspection at the Merdare Border Crossing Point, officials from the Anti-Smuggling Sector of Kosovo Customs, together with customs and police officers, discovered €50,000 in undeclared cash.

The money was found in the personal luggage of the driver of an Italy–Kosovo bus during a detailed inspection of the vehicle. The amount had not been declared to the customs authorities.
Kosovo Customs recalled that Article 33, paragraph 1, of Law No. 05/L-096 on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism requires people entering or leaving Kosovo while carrying €10,000 or more, or the equivalent amount in foreign currency, to declare it in writing to customs officials.
The declaration must include both the amount of money and its verifiable source.
The customs institution stressed that it would continue enforcing the legislation and taking measures to prevent the cross-border movement of undeclared monetary funds.
