DUI seeks clarification over Mustafa Dauti’s vehicle being near the site of the arrest for a 17,500-euro bribe

Following the arrest in flagrante delicto of the assistant director of the Customs Administration, who is suspected of accepting a 17,500-euro bribe, DUI says new information has emerged in the public domain, to which the police must provide an immediate response.

According to the party, during the arrest, the vehicle of Customs Deputy Director Mustafa Dauti was located immediately behind the vehicle of the arrested person. DUI is seeking confirmation as to whether this information is accurate.

DUI is calling on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to publicly clarify who was in the vehicle of the Customs deputy director, why his vehicle was at that location and at that moment, and whether Mustafa Dauti or the other people in the vehicle were questioned.

The party is also calling for it to be made known whether the possibility is being examined that the 17,500-euro case may also be connected to other people in the hierarchy of the Customs Administration.

DUI stresses that when an official is arrested in flagrante delicto over a tender, the investigation should not be limited only to the person who took the money. According to the party, the entire chain must be established: who organized the case, who knew about it and who was behind it.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office have an obligation to provide the public with clear and complete answers,” DUI declares.
