DUI accuses the government: Minutes of 83 sessions are missing in Albanian

The Democratic Union for Integration has reacted to what it describes as a new scandal in the Government of North Macedonia. According to the party, the minutes of government meetings have not been published in Albanian for nearly a year.

The latest document of this kind listed as published in Albanian is dated September 19, 2025. Since then, the government has held 83 sessions, but the corresponding minutes are still unavailable in the Albanian version of its official website.

The DUI statement emphasizes that these are official documents of the highest institution of executive power, which have been missing for a period of 11 months. According to the party, the large number of unpublished documents requires a detailed explanation regarding the implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages within the government itself.

DUI considers the case even more serious because the issue had previously been raised publicly. Representatives of VLEN, according to the statement, had declared that the minutes could also be found in Albanian, while today 83 consecutive documents remain inaccessible in Albanian.

The party condemns what it considers disregard for the legal obligations concerning the use of the Albanian language and demands that the institutions be held accountable.

DUI calls on the government to publicly explain why these minutes have not been published, determine who is responsible for the situation that has arisen, and publish without delay all the missing documentation in Albanian.

The statement recalls that the Law on the Use of Languages provides for sanctions for violations of its provisions. For this reason, according to DUI, the relevant institutions must verify whether the conditions for accountability in this case have been met and take action in accordance with the law.

The party also demands that VLEN explain to Albanians how it has tolerated the continuation of this situation, without correcting it, over the course of 11 months and 83 government sessions.

DUI demands respect for the law, the immediate publication of the minutes in Albanian, and the determination of responsibility for this scandal. The statement says that the call for the Inspectorate for the Use of Languages to intervene is now almost meaningless because, according to the party, VLEN has degraded and weakened this institution to such an extent that the mechanism that was supposed to be among the main defenders of the Albanian language has become practically powerless.
