Day 32 of the protest in Divjakë: Residents oppose merger with Lushnjë and accuse the government of silence

The protest by residents of Divjakë against the administrative-territorial reform proposed by the Socialist Party has entered its 32nd day. Citizens oppose the plan to merge Divjakë Municipality with Lushnjë Municipality, arguing that the initiative risks erasing not only the local institution but also the identity of the area.

During the rally, residents said that their resistance, which has lasted for more than a month, is not being taken into consideration by local and central authorities. According to them, instead of holding a meeting or public hearing, officials respond only through Facebook posts.

Although there were no power cuts this evening, protesters said they were facing intense pressure not to join the rallies. They stressed that this situation would not make them abandon their position in defense of the city’s autonomy.

After the rally, residents held a massive march through the main streets of Divjakë, marking the end of the 32nd evening of protests.

During the march, chants were heard against the government and the project to dissolve the municipality. Residents warned that the protest would continue without interruption until the initiative was completely withdrawn.
