Dashnor Sula Sets New Work Priorities with Heads of Inspection Bodies

Following the two-day analysis held in Pogradec at the call of Edi Rama, where the government’s priorities through 2030 were defined, Inspector General Dashnor Sula held a working meeting with the chief inspectors and directors general of the central inspection bodies. During the meeting, he presented the heads of the institutions with the main work objectives and the areas where institutional cooperation between the Inspector General’s Office and the central inspection structures should focus.

The discussions focused on the need for better institutional coordination, the unification of inspection practices, and the implementation of the new legal framework for inspections in the Republic of Albania.

It was recalled during the discussion that the Inspector General’s Office is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, standardizing and evaluating the inspection system, in accordance with the powers granted to it by the legislation in force. At the same time, all inspection structures were asked to work in a coordinated manner and apply the same standards and methodologies throughout the country.

Dashnor Sula emphasized the importance of guaranteeing legality, transparency and accountability during inspection activities. He also underlined that the administration must orient its work toward concrete results for citizens and businesses. In this context, the meeting also discussed the most effective handling of complaints and the use of the data they contain for risk analysis and improved inspection planning.

Part of the meeting was devoted to an overview of the current situation in the inspection system. From 15 July to 24 August, 106 inspections of inspection procedures were carried out, while around 400 appeal cases were administered. As for recruitment, 48 positions were filled during the March–August period.

Work is also continuing to fill vacant positions and ensure compliance with legal requirements in appointment and career development processes.

For the coming period, the priorities identified were the unification of inspection practices, strict compliance with procedures, complete documentation of actions and decisions, strengthening meritocracy in recruitment, and increasing the accountability of inspection bodies.

To improve institutional coordination, the Inspector General’s Office will organize periodic meetings with chief inspectors, directors general and regional chief inspectors. Cooperation with the inspection bodies will also be expanded to exchange information, resolve issues and standardize inspection practices.
