Daniela Dimovska officially takes over as head of Skopje Criminal Court: Focus on efficiency and reducing old cases

Daniela Dimovska took her solemn oath before the Judicial Council, officially assuming her duties as president of the Skopje Basic Criminal Court.

During her term, she aims to maintain the efficient pace of work, reduce the number of old cases and strengthen the institution’s transparency.

In an interview with “Telma,” Dimovska said that over the past 14 months, the court had recorded a significant decline in the number of cases and unresolved old cases.

“By taking the oath, I can promise that we will continue at the same pace and with the same dynamics. Over the past 14 months, we have managed to reduce the number of new cases, and we are one of the few efficient courts in the country. We have managed to reduce by 53 percent the number of old cases that were at risk of reaching the statute of limitations. This year, we have managed to ensure that not a single case reaches the statute of limitations,” Dimovska said.

The new president also stressed that the court is operating with significantly fewer staff than several years ago. “Unfortunately, we have 130 fewer employees than we did a few years ago, and with this reduced number of employees, we are managing to handle the flow of cases,” Dimovska said.

Dimovska said that the court administration carries the most significant share of the daily workload and that its work is essential to the functioning of the judges.

“It is precisely the court administration that bears the greatest burden of the work. I cannot overlook this, because they are the essential force behind us, the judges,” stressed the new president of the Skopje Basic Criminal Court.
