Media outlets report that the federal Court of Appeals in Washington declared illegal the construction of a new ballroom at the White House by President Donald Trump. The court’s decision was reached by a 2-1 vote following an appeal by the country’s historic preservation organization against the project. The court emphasized that the president is a temporary resident and does not have the authority to drastically reshape the White House.
