Conflict at a bar in Tirana, 37-year-old arrested after injuring a 47-year-old man with a weapon

A conflict between several people in the Don Bosko area of Tirana was brought to an end by the immediate intervention of police. Officers arrested the suspected perpetrator of the shooting-related injury at the scene, while the injured person was placed under investigation for failing to report a crime.

The incident occurred on the evening of August 24, at around 10:00 p.m., at the “Omerta” bar. After being alerted to the altercation, officers from Police Commissariat No. 3, together with the “Shqiponja” Special Force, arrived at the scene to clarify the circumstances.

During a physical search of Indrit Kallari, police found a “TT” type pistol, which was seized along with its ammunition. According to investigators’ suspicions, he struck Arben Merkaj in the forehead with the butt of the pistol.

Indrit Kallari was arrested for the criminal offenses of “Unauthorized production and possession of weapons” and “Serious injury.” Meanwhile, Arben Merkaj was arrested for “Failure to report a crime,” as he did not disclose the circumstances of the incident or the fact that he had been struck by Kallari.

As part of the investigation, police also seized the DVR device containing the security camera footage from the bar. Under the direction of the Prosecution Office, the investigative team is continuing its work to fully document the case.

According to the police statement, the intervention was related to a conflict that occurred on “Eshref Frashëri” Street in Laprakë, at around 9:45 p.m. on August 24, 2026, between two citizens, one of whom was armed.

As a result of swift investigative and operational actions, citizen I. K., 37, a resident of Krujë, was arrested at the scene. He is suspected of striking citizen A. M., 47, a resident of Laprakë, with the butt of a pistol he possessed without a permit, reportedly for trivial motives.

Proceedings were initiated against the 47-year-old while at liberty for the criminal offense of “Failure to report a crime.” The firearm, magazines and bullets were seized, while the procedural materials were sent to the Tirana Prosecution Office for further action.
