Clash during the Special Court session between Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi: “Enough, don’t speak based on gossip,” court also intervenes

During the court hearing held this Wednesday at the Special Court Against Corruption and Organized Crime, moments of strong tension were recorded as former President Ilir Meta and his former wife, Monika Kryemadhi, had a verbal confrontation in the presence of the judicial panel.

In his statements, Meta said that he had exercised no political influence, legal or otherwise, either for Adrian Shatku or for any other individuals. He denied the existence of any messages from him to Monika, Pirro Xhixho, Shatku, Haxhinasto or regarding matters related to lawful actions, describing them all as slander.

Meta also said that he had held no conversation with Theodhori Cani, whom he described as “one of those Greeks who has slaughtered Chams,” adding that this is “a Greek UDB story.” According to him, Adrian Shatku should also have appeared to clarify every claim related to these accusations.

He further declared that he had been abducted on the basis of a letter rogatory which, according to him, was later changed after it emerged that he had no connection to the payments in question. Meta insisted that he had made no intervention, whether legal or social, for anyone, while regarding Kryemadhi’s actions he said that “she knows about them herself.” According to him, if such activities had existed, the stories involving percentages would have appeared on his phone.

After this, Kryemadhi reacted by challenging him, telling him that what he was saying was not true and that he was speaking on the basis of words that, according to her, Altin Dumani was bringing him. “Enough, that’s not how it is. With the things Altin Dumani brings you, you’re speaking gossip here. Don’t get involved in women’s talk. Are you still dealing with Tedi Blushi’s gossip?” she said.

Kryemadhi then asked him: “But how do you know whether they are true?” while Meta replied briefly: “I deal with the prosecution.” Kryemadhi then told him: “Become a soldier of the prosecution…”

As the clash between them continued in the courtroom, the court intervened and warned Monika Kryemadhi that, if she did not comply with orders, she would face a fine and be removed from the hearing.

After receiving the warning from the court, Kryemadhi declared: “I’ve been listening to him and putting up with him for 4 years. Even if my father rises from the grave, I can’t tolerate him anymore. I will read your messages to you too, so you understand. Are you dealing with the words of this salaried man?” she said, referring to Freedom Party MP Tedi Blushi, who was in the courtroom.

For its part, the court warned: “We will remove you from the courtroom. We warn the defendant Monika Kryemadhi that if you repeat it, you will be removed from the hearing and fined.”

Continuing his position, Ilir Meta said that he was referring to the prosecution’s claims against him and those episodes which, according to the prosecution, are considered compromising. “They do not appear with me. Nothing exists,” he said.

Speaking about Adrian Shatku, Meta said that in order to understand this entire “fairy tale,” it is being claimed that he had gone to Morocco because of Adrian Shatku. According to him, the prosecution claims that Monika told Shatku: “yes, you will come because Ilir is coming for you.” Meta added that, according to the prosecution, Shatku’s influence over him is being presented as so great that he was traveling to Morocco for him.

He continued by saying that, according to SPAK, Shatku had claimed that he was the one arranging the meeting with the Prime Minister of Morocco, while the visit was a state one. Meta also underlined that other businessmen had also been in Morocco.
