Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” Opens to Record Success, Grossing $259 Million in Three Days

“The Odyssey,” the latest film from British director Christopher Nolan, has made a spectacular debut at the global box office, generating $259 million during its first three days in theaters.

The major cinematic project, inspired by Homer’s epic poem, has become an international success and introduced significant technical innovations in film production.

In North America, the film grossed $120 million, while revenue from 73 markets outside the region reached $139 million. In Italy alone, one of Europe’s major markets, more than €7.5 million worth of tickets were sold within the first 72 hours.

“The Odyssey” also holds a unique record as the first film in cinema history to be shot entirely with IMAX cameras on celluloid film. More than 610 kilometers of film stock were used in its production, with the aim of delivering the most authentic visuals possible and a distinctive experience for audiences.

Featuring a renowned cast and a large-scale production, the film brings one of the most important works of ancient literature to the screen, presenting Homer’s story to a worldwide audience.
