Bytyqi: The opposition will vote to raise the minimum wage to 600 euros

SDSM MP Fatmir Bytyqi said he was confident that all opposition parties would support the initiative to raise the minimum wage, as well as subsidizing contributions to ease the burden on the private sector.

“I believe that all opposition parties will support this proposal, but their support alone is not enough. The votes of the parties in power are also needed. For this reason, I am surprised that the coalition partners, VLEN and ZNAM, in addition to OBRM-PDUKM, do not support such a law,” he said.

According to Bytyqi, the new initiative differs from previous proposals on the minimum wage because it also includes a mechanism to assist the private sector.

“With the new law, we aim to raise the minimum wage to 600 euros, starting in October. At the same time, we envisage the government supporting the private sector by subsidizing contributions related to this increase,” Bytyqi said.

He explained that this would be an increase from the current minimum wage, which is around 10,900 denars. Under the proposal, the government would cover the subsidization of contributions and other data for the private sector, so that the transition to the new wage would be easier, Bytyqi said on TV Shenja.
