Berisha expects acquittal for former KLA leaders: Tomorrow, the eyes of Albanians are on The Hague

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted ahead of the announcement of the verdict by the Special Court in The Hague for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Berisha says he expects Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi to be acquitted, describing them as heroes of Kosovo’s liberation.

According to him, after a six-year trial, the court is expected to announce its verdict tomorrow for Kosovo’s former political leaders. Berisha says that throughout the proceedings, no evidence supporting the charges for which they were arrested has been made public.

For this reason, he says Albanians are expecting only one outcome: their acquittal, and the return of the former KLA leaders as free and proud men, just as they are—heroes of Kosovo’s liberation.

At the same time, Berisha stresses that any decision by the Hague Court must be respected, while describing threats against Kosovo, its order, peace and security as unacceptable and condemnable in the event of a different verdict.

He underlines that Kosovo must not pay the price for the consequences of a judicial decision that it would consider unjust.
