Associations of KLA war martyrs’ families and war invalids invite citizens to the “Freedom has a name” march

The Association of Families of KLA War Martyrs and the Association of KLA War Invalids announced that they are working closely with various nationwide organizations and councils, with the aim of giving the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army a dignified welcome on September 16, when they return home.

Xhavit Jashari, chairman of the Association of KLA War Martyrs’ Families, called on all citizens to join the September 12 march, called and organized by the “Freedom has a name” platform.

Jashari clarified that the association he leads is not organizing the September 12 protest, but is cooperating with the “Freedom has a name” platform, the Association of War Invalids and other indigenous organizations. He called for broad participation in the march and protest, as a stand against what he described as slander directed at the Kosovo Liberation Army’s war.

According to him, citizens should also be prepared for the final verdict. Jashari expressed hope that the court would distance its position from that of the prosecution, which he described as absurd in relation to the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, KosovaPress reports.

Jashari also addressed those who, according to him, insult and curse the Kosovo Liberation Army, as well as its former leaders who are being held in The Hague.

He said that attacks against the KLA, its war and its leaders, who he said are being unjustly held in The Hague, also constitute insults and curses against Kosovo’s statehood.

The head of the Association of War Martyrs’ Families once again called on all institutions, political parties and Albanians wherever they live to turn out in the greatest possible numbers, march and be ready for the welcome. He said that if the Hague Court delivers a political decision unrelated to justice, the associations will not stand idly by. According to Jashari, this is a political court, both in the way it was established and in its activities to date, KosovaPress reports.

Fadil Shurdhaj, chairman of the Association of KLA War Invalids, also joined the call for participation. He asked all Albanians to attend the protest that will be held on September 12 in Skanderbeg Square.

Shurdhaj invited Albanians from Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Presheva, Medvegja and all Albanian-inhabited areas, as well as members of the diaspora, to come to Pristina on September 12 at 2 p.m. and protest in a dignified manner, ahead of the final verdict on September 16.

He called on veterans, war invalids, families of martyrs and all those who love freedom and Kosovo to take part in the gathering in Skanderbeg Square on September 12.

The Specialist Chambers in The Hague will announce the final verdict on September 16 for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who have been in detention since November 2020.
