Berisha: Belinda Balluku case is now an EU issue, European Commission report hit Rama and the government

Sali Berisha stated that the latest European Commission report has branded the Albanian government, while the case of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, according to him, no longer concerns only Albanians but has also become a problem for the European Union.

The leader of the Democratic Party made these comments during his weekly discussion on social media. In a live exchange with followers, he spoke about Albania’s political situation, recent developments and the electoral processes within the Democratic Party.

According to the opposition leader, Rama’s image is being damaged around the world. Berisha said that international media, particularly in recent months, have portrayed him as he truly is, describing him as a “narco-dictator”, a “terrible man” and a defender of crime and his own people. He added that another European Commission report on free media and justice deals a strong blow to Edi Rama and his regime.

Speaking about the case of former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, Berisha claimed that Rama exerted pressure on the justice system and institutions to defend her. However, according to him, the European Union branded the regime, which has now been wounded.

Berisha mentioned the defence that, according to him, Rama gave by name to “Lubi Balluku”, the prime minister’s attacks on the justice system, and pressure on the State Police and other institutions. He stated that “Lubi Balluku” has become an issue not only for Albanians, but also for the EU. The Democratic leader added that Rama’s stance towards the media has also been condemned, considering all of this evidence of the prime minister and his regime being fatally wounded.
