According to Sali, rapprochement with Europe must go beyond a political perspective and create genuine opportunities for citizens, the country’s economy and businesses. He stressed that the reforms being implemented should gradually link the country with the European Union’s market, policies and programs.

In this regard, attention focused on the tangible results that gradual integration could bring. These included participation in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), the possible expansion of the “Roam Like at Home” model and cooperation on digital transformation.

Sali welcomed the European Commission’s communication, “Preparing for a Wider Union”. He called for enlargement to proceed through a process offering greater predictability, with progress based on merit and measurable results.

The discussions also covered the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and the Reform Agenda. The minister reaffirmed North Macedonia’s commitment to continuing reforms in public administration, the rule of law, energy, digitalization and economic competitiveness.

Speaking about the upcoming 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework, Sali highlighted its importance for candidate countries. According to him, this framework should guarantee them stable and predictable support focused on achieving results.

During the visit, Marta Kos also gave a special interview to media representatives from North Macedonia. The interview created an opportunity for direct communication with the public about enlargement and the country’s European perspective.

For the Ministry of European Affairs, close cooperation with European institutions remains an ongoing commitment, with the aim of accelerating reforms and ensuring that the integration process delivers concrete results for citizens.
