Bahtiri opposes Simiq’s statement: Only Vučić can speak on behalf of the Serb people in Kosovo

Vetëvendosje Movement MP Agim Bahtiri has reacted to a speech by Serb List MP Igor Simiq in the Assembly of Kosovo.

Bahtiri questioned the way Simiq presented the proposal for deputy speaker of the Assembly. According to him, the MP did not speak on behalf of the Serb List, but instead used the phrase “on behalf of the Serb people.”

“Only Vučić in Serbia can make a proposal ‘on behalf of the Serb people,’ not Igor Simiq in Kosovo!” Bahtiri wrote.

He stressed that all MPs in the Assembly of Kosovo are representatives of the Republic of Kosovo, describing Simiq’s statement as incompatible with the Constitution.

“In this Assembly, we are all MPs of the Republic of Kosovo. This gesture of his is unconstitutional,” Bahtiri declared.

The Vetëvendosje MP called on the justice and investigative authorities to analyze Simiq’s statement, as well as the circumstances in which it was made.

“As an MP, I call on the investigative and justice authorities to assess this statement and the context in which it was made. The law must be equal for everyone,” Bahtiri concluded.
