ARRU extends the licenses of eight water utility operators for the 2026–2031 period

The Regulatory Authority for Water Services (ARRU) has approved the renewal of licenses for seven regional water utility companies (RWUCs), as well as for the “Ibër-Lepenci” hydroeconomic enterprise.

The new licenses will be valid for five years, specifically from September 11, 2026, to September 10, 2031.

The documents were handed over during a solemn ceremony to the chief executive officers of the respective operators:

RWUC “Prishtina” J.S.C., Prishtina;

RWUC “Hidroregjioni Jugor” J.S.C., Prizren;

RWUC “Hidrodrini” J.S.C., Peja;

RWUC “Gjakova” J.S.C., Gjakova;

RWUC “Mitrovica” J.S.C., Mitrovica;

RWUC “Bifurkacioni” J.S.C., Ferizaj;

RWUC “Hidromorava” J.S.C., Gjilan;

Hydroeconomic Enterprise “Ibër-Lepenci” J.S.C., Prishtina.

During the ceremony, ARRU Deputy Director Abedin Azizi praised the companies’ commitment to supplying consumers with water services and their cooperation in the licensing process.

He said that licensing water service providers is one of ARRU’s fundamental functions, as the process examines and confirms the companies’ technical, financial and managerial capacities.

According to Azizi, the license defines the operators’ legal and regulatory responsibilities, the services they are authorized to provide, the territory in which they operate and the rules they must follow during their operations.

“The service license is a responsibility and an obligation for you to provide quality, efficient and safe services to all your consumers without distinction, as well as to take care of the financial sustainability of your companies,” Azizi declared.

Arsim Fetahu, chief executive officer of RWUC “Prishtina,” spoke on behalf of the board of directors of SHUKOS. He expressed gratitude for ARRU’s continued cooperation and support, both during the licensing procedure and in the companies’ daily activities.

The activity concluded with Abedin Azizi handing over the licenses to the chief executive officers of the RWUCs and the Hydroeconomic Enterprise “Ibër-Lepenci.”

ARRU announced that it would continue to support and assist the ongoing improvement of water services in Kosovo.
