Ardian Gjini: The Alliance’s proposal is not a condition for power, but a path for the country’s strategic development

The chairman of the Alliance, Ardian Gjini, during an interview on the show “Pressing”, provided clarifications about the six points of his party’s offer. He emphasized that this proposal does not hide personal interests or ambitions for government posts, but has the sole aim of overcoming the political deadlock and taking strategic steps for Kosovo’s future.

Gjini dismissed the idea that these are conditions imposed on the Vetëvendosje Movement. “We are not imposing anything; this is a contribution to break the current gridlock. Our proposal aims to concretely improve citizens’ lives and to set up mechanisms that will serve Kosovo in the coming decades,” he said. At the heart of this platform is the acceptance of American gas, which Gjini described as a necessity that must be finalized within a tight 9-10 month deadline.

He explained that the insistence on this energy source is not linked to individual benefits. “The demand for American gas is strategic in nature; it is not about us as individuals. We have not negotiated any kind of participation in institutions or the government cabinet. The only thing we ask is that Kosovo welcomes this opportunity, because we can no longer afford delays,” the Alliance leader stated.

Beyond energy security, the document addresses other essential reforms in the economic, agricultural, and infrastructure spheres. Gjini announced that they have proposed raising the turnover threshold for small and medium-sized businesses from 30,000 to 100,000 euros. According to him, the current limit is suffocating enterprises, making it impossible for them to access loans and create new jobs. In parallel, he mentioned abolishing the property tax to encourage land cultivation and help farmers, as well as the necessity for the state to allocate 1 billion euros for the capital and to complete all the road projects that have been started.

The head of the Alliance expressed surprise at the indifference of the entire political scene towards these issues, which he considers vital. He pointed out that nobody has even tried to publicly accept or reject any of the points. “What amazes us is that no one has wanted to say whether these are acceptable or not. I don’t think there are many people in Kosovo who think these are unimportant matters. Yet, the silence is total. If they came out and said ‘we don’t want American gas’ and explained why, it would be different. Perhaps they fear the impact on votes, that is understandable,” Gjini said.

In closing, he appealed to the political class to leave behind old quarrels and focus on projects that have a direct impact on people’s lives. “We have already lost enough time in Kosovar politics dealing with who cheated whom. We have decided to demand things that serve the citizens. We never ask anything from Albin Kurti for ourselves. This is our list. I think all parties, those in opposition as well as the one that came first in the elections, should reflect: is it fair to govern while leaving the country in darkness?” concluded Ardian Gjini.
