Anti-government protest enters its 59th day today, citizens call on Rama: Resign!

The anti-government protest enters its 59th day today, while organizers have warned that gatherings will continue this Tuesday as well, insisting they will not back down until their demand for the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama is met.

The 58th day of protest was marked by a series of gatherings and marches in various parts of Tirana. Citizens began protesting in the morning hours in front of Parliament, opposing the holding of a plenary session.

The area around Parliament was cordoned off by a heavy police presence, while attempts by protesters to approach the building led to tensions with officers. During the protest, several individuals were taken into custody by police.

After the incidents in front of Parliament, protesters marched toward Police Station No. 1, where they demanded the release of those detained and opposed the law enforcement intervention during the rally.

In the afternoon and evening, the protest moved in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, where citizens delivered speeches and voiced their opposition to the government.

During the rally, criticism was also leveled at the “Besa” platform, recently introduced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, which protesters deemed insufficient to address their demands.

After the speeches concluded, protesters held their nightly march through the capital’s streets, repeating chants of “Rama go!”, “Resign!”, “New Albania”, and “Revolution”.

The march took place without incident.

Organizers stated that the protest now has a single objective: the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the holding of free elections, while stressing that mobilization will continue daily until this goal is achieved.

Today, on the 59th day of protest, citizens are again expected to gather in Tirana, continuing their daily action against the government.
