AMP’s July report: 11 arrested, 8 of them police officers, and 6 under disciplinary investigation

The Police Oversight Agency has announced its activity report for July, during which 11 people were arrested, including 8 police officers.

During the same period, the AMP referred 54 cases to the Prosecutor’s Office for investigation involving police officers. The violations referred mainly concerned abuse of office, arbitrary actions, and failure to comply with road traffic rules.

The referrals included 14 cases of abuse of office involving 15 subjects, as well as 25 cases involving arbitrary actions, other intentional damage, threats, and similar offenses. Meanwhile, 5 cases concerned violations of road traffic rules involving 5 subjects and 1 citizen.

The AMP also handled 111 complaints submitted by citizens. Of this total, 15 complaints were assessed as substantiated, 62 as unsubstantiated, while in 32 cases the existence of violations was not proven. Criminal files were opened in 2 cases.

In addition, 160 administrative complaints were processed during July.

Communication with citizens also took place through the telephone line, where 420 calls were registered. In 253 cases, the issues fell within the AMP’s area of responsibility, 104 calls concerned matters outside the institution’s jurisdiction, while 63 citizens were provided with information.

The AMP Disciplinary Commission decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings for serious violations against 6 police officers.

For one officer, it was decided not to initiate disciplinary proceedings because the alleged violation was not proven. Meanwhile, the documentation concerning 26 police officers and 2 Fire and Rescue Service employees is still under review.

During July, 3 inspections were also conducted in the relevant structures, one of which was planned and two unplanned. The inspections aimed to verify how these structures carried out their activities.
