Allison Guerriero, Former Partner of Charles McGonigal Who Denounced His Ties to Edi Rama in the US, Dies

Allison Guerriero, the ex-girlfriend of Charles McGonigal, the former director of the FBI’s counterintelligence office in New York, has been found dead, Daily Mail reports. Guerriero had informed U.S. authorities about the former official’s illegal activities.

Her death has brought back to the center of attention one of the most sensational episodes of the McGonigal case. The former senior American intelligence official was convicted in the U.S. for violating sanctions against Russia, as well as for concealing payments he had received from a former employee of the Albanian intelligence services.

Guerriero also played an important role in the developments that drew the attention of the Albanian public. After her split from McGonigal, she gave American investigators information about his activities, including his relationship with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

In her public statements, Guerriero had said that McGonigal had told her about a planned trip to Albania, where he would meet with Edi Rama. However, according to her, he had not told her the specific reason for these meetings.

She had also stated that the former FBI official and Rama had a personal relationship and that McGonigal often mentioned the Albanian prime minister. Guerriero’s testimony was considered particularly important after the publication of the indictment by American authorities, in which Edi Rama’s name appeared in several parts of the official document.
