Ali Ahmeti Considers Leaving Politics After 25 Years of Involvement

After a 25-year active political career, Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), has revealed that he is giving increasingly serious consideration to the possibility of retiring.

During an interview on RTV21’s Click program, Ahmeti spoke about his political future and developments within the party. He said he had personally considered stepping down, although his fellow leaders and associates insist that it is still too early for such a decision.

Ahmeti recalled that he has been active for more than 45 years and that life has not been easy for those who fought against the Yugoslav regime to reach the present day. He compared this journey to moving the body from a refrigerator to a radiator, which, according to him, causes problems for the body.

The DUI leader said that people with this kind of commitment also want to experience certain things as ordinary citizens and have greater freedom of movement. Describing his daily routine as “home-headquarters, home-headquarters,” along with constant activities, he emphasized the need to live at least somewhat like an ordinary citizen.

However, Ahmeti’s fellow party members believe that the time for his departure has not yet come and that his presence remains essential in politics.

Speaking about personnel changes within the DUI, Ahmeti said that the party’s leadership structures have undergone a significant renewal. According to him, more than 83 percent of the leadership consists of young people and new personnel.

Rumors of Ali Ahmeti’s possible withdrawal are not new, as speculation about his departure from politics has circulated publicly in the past as well./INA/
