Menduh Thaçi sharply criticizes Ali Ahmeti: “I have never met a more untrustworthy person

Menduh Thaçi, an ethnic Albanian politician from North Macedonia, has harshly criticized Ali Ahmeti, the leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), describing him as the most untrustworthy person he has encountered throughout his life.

During an interview on the “Pressing One” program on T7 television, Thaçi stressed that his opinions about Ahmeti are personal and influenced by his experience as a political opponent.

“I believe I know him deeply. I am a vigilant opponent of his. The assessments I make are certainly subjective. I have to be authentic; I do not intend to copy anyone. I have been involved in this work for years and, according to my conviction, I have never encountered a more untrustworthy person,” he said.

Commenting on Ahmeti’s role in the Albanian political scene in North Macedonia, Thaçi said that Albanians have gained no benefits from his leadership.

“These may seem like harsh words, but there is now a context in which these assessments can be heard. In 2002 and 2003, they were considered expressions of resentment. Ali Ahmeti’s political record is negative. Not only have we gained nothing, but we have lost,” Thaçi added.

He further accused the leader of the DUI of having served as a tool for Slavic interests, noting that at certain times these interests have coincided with those of the Western powers.

“I believe that Ali Ahmeti, from the very beginning, was a tool of others, especially the Slavs. From time to time, the international community is also involved in this role, and I have experience showing that at certain moments, Slavic and Western interests coincide on a particular issue. I think he has been used as an instrument,” Thaçi declared.
