After Months of Denial, Confession Emerges in Case of Albanian Minor in Italy: 17-Year-Old Admits Pushing 13-Year-Old from Balcony

The killing of 13-year-old Albanian girl Aurora Tila in Italy has taken a new turn after her ex-boyfriend changed his testimony and admitted that he was the one who pushed her from the balcony of a home in Piacenza.

The 17-year-old, who was 15 at the time of the incident, made the confession during the appeal hearing, abandoning his previous claim of innocence.

According to Italian media, he admitted to causing the girl’s death on October 25, 2024.

The young man appeared via video link from the juvenile prison in Catanzaro, where he is serving his sentence following the first-instance ruling, which sentenced him to 17 years in prison.

During the hearing, he apologized for his actions and for the long time he spent without telling the truth. The court has meanwhile requested a report on his behavior at the detention facility, as other issues involving him have also been reported.

The young man’s name has not been made public because he is a minor.

The lawyer representing Aurora’s mother, Emilio Malaspina, described the confession as an important step in the proceedings, while requesting that the first-instance ruling be taken into consideration.
