Afrim Gashi: My stance on the decision concerning former KLA leaders in The Hague was personal, and I have the right to hold it

The Speaker of the Assembly, Afrim Gashi, explained to the media his position regarding the Hague Tribunal’s decision concerning the four KLA leaders: Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Kadri Veseli.

Gashi stated that his position as the Assembly’s top official does not strip him of his right to privacy and to express his position as a citizen and politician on a particular event, situation or issue. He said that this was precisely why he felt it necessary to speak.

A week ago, on the day the decision was handed down concerning the four KLA leaders, Gashi wrote on social media: “No decision can deny the fact that Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi are part of a glorious chapter in the history of Kosovo.”

His post about the former KLA leaders was also mentioned by the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, during a public appearance.
